  • Widespread adoption within the first year (over 200 intranet sites and 300 forums (23,000 posts)) led to a dramatic increase in the sharing of knowledge and practises across the company.
  • Migration to a single support and development system by the company’s central technology providers greatly facilitated the adoption and support of central tools and technologies.

Mobile Inspection App

Directed the development of an iPad app that allowed safety officers to record results of inspections in the field even when disconnected from the network.  The initial application was a mobile app that was wildly popular with safety officers and that led to significant productivity gains. This was made possible by negotiating an arrangement with our key application vendor to co-develop APIs that allowed our organization to develop fully integrated custom solutions that better addressed the needs of our internal users and external clients.

HCM Transformation

Canfor started a major HR transformation program that included the building of a shared services group and Communities of Expertise.   The foundation of the program was the harmonization of processes across the company and the implementation of a cloud-based Human Capital Management (HCM) solution to support them.  The company had 6,000 employees in operations across North America.

Led the evaluation and selection of the HCM system – SuccessFactors – and a system integration partner.   Developed a 3 year roadmap for the program as well as the project charter and detailed implementation and resource plans.  Led the requirements definition, design and initial iteration phases including testing.

The core modules included:

HCM: SuccessFactors – Employee Central, Recruitment Management, Performance & Goal Setting, Compensation & Variable Pay, Succession Planning, Learning Management.
